Close to all amenities, friendly helpful owners. Was comfortable enough for us with 3 kids, although little bit small for our liking but overall good value compared to what else is out there. Our son left a beloved toy behind and the staff were helpful in finding it and posting it onto us very quickly. Was very appreciated!
greeting was excellent really felt welcome. The unit itself was also fabulous, conmpact but enough room for what we needed. Good location would diffinently return to this motel.
Struggled hear but it was noted that the cleaning of the lamp shades should be given attention, loads of dead insects in the lamp shades fittings and when you are preparing food it is not somethinmg you wish to see in th kitchen.
In the right place for our tour, helpful friendly owners
We had a very warm welcome with helpful advise. Would happily stya again and recommend to friends.
Lodge was fine but town far too commercial,
Good modern facilities.
Rate quite high compared to some other aaccomodation we have stayed in
The bed was very good - as good as any I have ever had in a hotel. In fact, all of the 'fittings' were good quality. I was attending a conference and had no time to watch TV, but that looked like a good quality flat screen too.
The room was just too small - too pokey altogether, given the quality of the furnishings. So, I can see why they charged the rate they did (on the basis of the furnishings), but in terms of the size of the room, it was not what I would consider a good deal.
Thanks to Pru & the cute canine staff. We had a lovely stay and appreciatedall the friendly advice. Highly recommended.
When it as raining the gutters were overflowing and crashing down onto the concrete thermal pool, then gurgling down the plug hole.
The hotel was very comfortable well appointed and quiet and the staff were friendly and hlpful
A simply but smartly furnished, well equipped room which made good use of the space - with a small table and chairs, good storage and a comfy armchair. Microwave and full tea and coffee making facilities - including a plunger and ground coffee - were provided. The room had a comfortable, firm and spacious bed. Parking was right outside the door. There was a private outdoor hot spa bath, accessed via the bathroom. Owner Alan was very friendly and full of useful local info. Victoria Lodge made an excellent base as it was close to a supermarket and local mall and 10 minutes walk from the rest of the city centre...but also a short drive (or healthy 20 minute walk) from the Te Puia Maori cultural centre. The price was good too...and compared well with similar motels booked elsewhere in 'tourist centres' across New Zealand.
Not really something we didn't like about about Victoria Lodge - just something you need to be aware of if staying. We were woken up on our first night by a young Japanese couple chatting loudly as they enjoyed their outdoor hot spa bath....at 2am in the morning. If you do stay, please make sure you consider others and follow Alan's clear instructions not to use the spa bath after 9pm!
Location for town centre, Friendly staff upon arrival, good response to parking a large car, Breakfast very nice & well priced , quantity great. Room nice & dark.
No sky tv as major sporting event was on & unable to locate correct channel with local set up, Hot tub through bathroom window for access, No electric blankets as very cold evening in winter time despite wall heater & warm tub, used extra blankets as provided well, Plumbing noises off & on during the evening, rumbles & thump sounds from hot water piping.
Clean, Handy Location
Showers were awful. It was cold in Rotorua and the shower preassure, well there was no preassure. It was like having a cold shower Bloody awful.
The manager was very very good and helpful. Just off the city limits so less noisy. Good place to stay.
Travelling with two young children, it was nice to be able to put them to bed in their own bedroom upstairs and still be able to watch tv downstairs. There were three televisions throughout the unit and everything we needed in the kitchen. Having grandchildren the same age as our kids, Pru and Alan, the managers, were able to recommend attractions that would be appropriate for the kids and they were spot on. The unit was also within walking distance of a large supermarket.
Like almost every hotel we stayed at in nz, the plates, cups and cutlery in the cupboards weren't very clean but as this seems to be an NZ-wide problem, it certainly wouldn't stop me from using this hotel again :)
Staff were very helpful and knowledgable. The room was very neat and tidy. A fully equipped kitchen was very useful. Close to everything we wanted to see and within walking distance of shops and information sights etc.
